From Childhood Memories to Dream Collaborations - Here’s all there is to know about the team at DIFYRENT.
Ever wondered what goes on in the minds of filmmakers? Well, we’ve made it easier for you. Here are the lives and beliefs at DIFYRENT, summarised in just 15 short questions:
About DIFYRENT & Work Ethic
1. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Something that we use as a motto whenever we come across a road block is definitely “when everyone else would stop, keep going”. We’re not quite sure where it came from, though Dylan (our Executive Producer) started saying it one day, and it stuck. We’ve been following that motto since 2020, and haven’t looked back since.
2. What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
It has to be winning €100,000 to make the film of our dreams this past summer, though we’d be lying if we said that making an entire feature film for next to no budget isn’t up there. On top of that, possibly having a sold out show at the premier of our first feature in cinemas.
3. Who’s your inspiration?
We’re inspired by all sorts of people in and out of the industry. The Duffer Brothers (who created Stranger Things), Spielberg of course, we have a couple of friends in LA who are killing it, but mostly anyone who’s ever defied expectations to make something great.
Personal Questions
4. What do you never leave the house without?
Our phones and AirPods for sure. I would say keys too, but Mar can’t seem to leave the house WITH them.
5. If you weren’t filmmakers what would you be doing?
Dylan would probably be trying to make some sort of Silicon Valley startup.
Mar had always wanted to work in animation as a character designer
Adam was and still wants to design clothes.
6. What’s your favourite food?
Cinema Popcorn, Fried Chicken, Burgers (we’re health gurus)
7. What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Dylan is too obsessed with Transformers at this point, Adam can’t keep his feet on the ground during Rihanna’s Disturbia, and Maria would walk through fire to pet a racoon.
Life as Humans
8. What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
Time costs more than money. If you’re not doing what you love, the money isn’t worth it.
9. What’s one thing you want to do before you die?
Live. No seriously. Not enough people live before they die. And be invited to the Oscars.
10. What is your earliest memory?
Mar: When I was about 4, my dad dressed up as Santa. As he was handing out gifts, all I could think was: Why did Santa steal my dad’s slippers?
Dylan: My earliest memory is sleeping during Peter Pan on TV only to wake up to a live police chase on what I now know as the news. Boy did that film take a turn...
Adam: It was my first surprise party and everyone scared me so much I cried the rest of the evening.
11. Do you believe in God?
Taylor Swift? Yeah we’ve heard of her.
Rapid Fire…GO!
12. What is one thing you wish you knew when you were younger?
“Each other, full stop. “ (Direct quote from Adam)
13. What’s your worst habit?
Procrastination for sure. What we try and do is procrastinate by doing something else productive. We call it PRO- crastination.
14. Who would you have play you in a movie/ TV show?
Adam is basically Donald Glover.
Mar would want Aubrey Plaza.
Dylan would defiantly be played by Mark Duplass (The Morning Show) or Jake Johnson (New Girl)
15. What has been your biggest challenge?
Making an entire film with no budget and nothing but sheer passion was a struggle we’re still recovering from, though getting to spend 3 months working with 25 of our best friends made it worth it.
